The UK government to boost work visas for Indian nationals

The UK government has recently signed a new work visa contract. This is in regard to boosting work visas for Indian nationals. This would be beneficial for young Indian professionals who wish to migrate to the UK even without a job offer letter. This scheme has a resemblance to the current youth mobility scheme. The agreement will allow up to 3,000 young Indian professionals of the age 18-30 to work and live in the UK for up to two years. Currently, Indian professionals who wish to immigrate to the UK require a skilled work visa which is possible only if they have a job offer letter from a licensed sponsor in the UK. However, the new work visa scheme has eased off visa rules making it easier for Indian professionals to migrate to the UK.
On the flip side, this agreement is also aimed at accelerating the removal of illegal immigrants from India. Earlier, the UK had no strong policies in place for the removal of those who breach the terms of their visas or enter the UK illegally. There were reportedly as many as 100,000 Indians living illegally in the UK by misusing student visas and visitor visas for illegal immigration. While other countries like Canada and Australia have clear rules for managing illegal immigrants, countries like the UK and the US failed to have laws for criminalizing or otherwise punishing illegal entry. This made it easier for illegal immigrants to find a job and settle in the UK without facing any legal consequences. The New Plan for Immigration is expected to speed up the deportation of these illegal immigrants from India.
